What’s RSS?
If you’ve listened to a podcast, you’ve used RSS. It stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’ and is pretty much just that.
You can follow blogs, podcasts, or whatever else you like. When they publish something new, that new thing will appear quietly in your RSS reader.
No megacorp owns RSS. It’s an open technology like the web or email. Here are a few resources for further reading:

My favourite is Reeder Classic. NetNewsWire is also nice. There are a bunch out there. Just try a few out and see what sticks.
